Grinding and unconsciously clenching the teeth can be encouraged by stress and other factors and put long-term strain on the chewing system. These so-called bruxism symptoms often go unnoticed at first.

Possible signs include worn or shortened tooth surfaces, sensitive tooth necks, changes to the chewing surfaces or recurring toothache. Problems in the jaw joint, tension in the chewing muscles or neck, and headaches can also be related. All of these findings come under the umbrella term TMD (temporomandibular disorder), known in German as CMD.
Early detection, targeted treatment
Many patients do not initially connect these complaints with their teeth or their bite. That is why we pay particular attention to signs of overload during our examinations and, if you have symptoms, also check how your teeth, jaw joint and chewing muscles work together.
A splint made for you can protect your teeth from excessive strain and help to reduce symptoms. Depending on the cause and your individual situation, further examination or treatment may be advisable.
If you suffer from teeth grinding, jaw problems, headaches or tension, please talk to us. We check your bite and advise you individually on suitable treatment options.
